INTRODUCING SMART QUARTZ PAINT

Our Smart Quartz Paint technology has been developed by Skora through rigorous research and development that finally resulted in a coating system that possesses a unique set of attributes like no other in the industry. A product that is all set to turn from only so much so a dream to a sustained and dynamic demand.

The Quartz-like structure, creates a dry zone beneath the coating which prevents harmful algae and mould from forming. The Smart Quartz Paint technology, while rendering the surface of the substrate hydrophobic, does not block the pores of the substrate like film coatings would. This unique property of the Smart Quartz Paint therefore, allows any existing moisture beneath the surface to easily escape the substrate rather than being locked within which would cause problems related to dampness over time. This smart attribute of our Smart Quartz Paint allows cement based substrates to cure fully and build strength over time. The dry zone created beneath the surface by our Smart Quartz Paint protects the surface from salt and alkali attacks as well as prevents the formation of mould and algae that thrive in damp areas which ultimately degrade the integrity of the structure.

QUARTZ SHIELD TECHNOLOGY

Our R&D teams made a path-breaking discovery of how Fiberglass and Quartz technology serve best for a water-resistant coating formula to promote active waterproofing. Using fiberglass dioxide with key ingredients we created a revolutionary paint that adopts all properties of Quartz, rendering the paint a shield with permalast attributes. Quartz being one of the most inert and durable substances found on earth, the 3-Dimensional Structure of alternating Silicone and Oxygen atoms protects substrates from weathering by building an unbreakable shield on any structure rendering it waterproof.

HYDROPHOBIC TECHNOLOGY

Skora's Quartz-shield makes our paints highly repellent against water penetration. This Quartz-like structure prevents moisture from soaking into the surface which prevents formation of harmful elements like mould and algae that thrive in damp areas and ultimately jeopardise the integrity of the wall and the paint. That gives our paint a high beading effect in every weather, even extreme rainy conditions that lets water roll off the surface of the wall without allowing it to get absorbed beneath the surface. Because this unique technology is not film forming, it lets the wall release existing moisture inside the wall in the form of vapour letting the wall "breathe" like actual skin. Our Smart Hydrophobic technology essentially extends the life of our paint and the wall to last a lifetime by faithfully fighting against any form of water and moisture.

QUAD COAT TECHNOLOGY

At the heart of our Smart Quartz Paint Solution lies our Smart Quad Coat System. This coating system consists of 4 integral layers that form the protective barrier between your walls and the elements of the outside world. Each of these layers form a symbiotic bond of an impenetrable quartz like structure to make any masonry surface hydrophobic, waterproof and durable. All these layers form our impenetrable Quad Coat System which in spite of having up to 4 layer allows the wall to breathe while being completely waterproof.

Every building and structure tends to face some issue over time. Leakage

Every building faces the dreaded issue of water leakage at some point or the other. This is one of the major causes of other common building defects so much so that if water leakage could be prevented, almost 80% of other building defects can be eliminated.

Cause: Leakage in the drainage pipes of the upper, adjacent water supply pipes, seepage of waste water or rain water through external walls.

Dampness

Dampness is another issue that commonly ails buildings. Such structural dampness is caused by the presence of unwanted moisture in the structure of the building, either as a result of rain or condensation from within the structure itself.

Cause: Poor quality of construction material, bad design, faulty construction or bad workmanship and of course the weather can cause dampness.

Efflorescence

Efflorescence happens when crystalline deposits of soluble salts, usually white in colour, start to appear on the surface of the wall. These usually comprise of Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, iron and so on.

Cause: It is caused by the migration of lime water molecules (CaOH)2) to the surface of the damp external render.

Honey Comb

Honeycombs are hollow spaces and cavities left in the concrete mass on the surface or inside the concrete mass where concrete could not reach. These look like a honey bee nest.

Cause: Improper vibration during concreting, poor workmanship.

Damage by CO2

When carbon dioxide in the air comes in contact with soluble salts and moisture in the wall, it forms carbon monoxide. This effects the integrity of steel and concrete in the structure.

Cause: Serious damage caused by corrosion to steel structure.

Peeling & Flaking

Loss of adhesion of the paint film caused by high levels of moisture that penetrane the fim and eventually push the film away from the substrate. Flaking is an early stage of peeling.

Cause: Poor surface preparation and/or applying ton thin a coat of paint. Excessive moisture in a home due to a high levels of humidity is the basement or foundation.

Chalking

Chalking is the formation of fine powder on the surface of the paint film due to weathering and excessive exposure to UV radiation.

Cause: UV radiation exposure leads to chalking which can cause colour fading.

Mould

Mildew grows mainly in damp, humid, of moist areas of your home but the best form of prevention is using mildew-resistant paint.

Cause: Moisture penetration and presence in the wall as the key cause of mould growth.

Surfactant Leaching

Concentration of water-soluble paint ingredients called “surfactants” on the surface of latex paint. May be evident as tan, brown or clear spots and can sometimes be glassy soapy, oily or sticky.

Cause: Cool temperatures will retard the paints curing process, which can allow surfactants to separate out and float to the top of the coating.

Algae Growth

Algae and fungus can grow when the surface is continually damp and dirty. Insufficient fungicide and algaecide in the plaint can also worsen the actuations.

Cause: Water penetration and dampness in the wall.
